The Sailor X Generator was created by Aeryn Martin➚, inspired by Sailor Orion's Portrait Shoppe (offline), and allows you to create a picture of your otaku senshi (fan created guardian) based on the anime/manga Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon➚ by Naoko Takeuchi.
With SailorX the focus is on the creation of new characters, rather than recreating existing ones. This is why SailorXv3 also has randomization features at startup as well as during game play. The interface is grey to avoid influencing the color choices of the user. The art style is more realistic than the original.
SailorX has been around since 2002. The first incarnation was just called SailorX and renamed SailorXbasic, after work on version 2 started. It was built for the already existing Kisekae Set System➚, short: KiSS. The base (body image) of SailorXbasic was created by Emby Quinn➚ and used with permission. The graphics were very limited in quality due to the limitations of the KiSS Viewer's capabilities, as well as those of the author.
SailorXv2 was an improvement. The graphics were prettier and the color and costume options far greater. In fact, no other Sailor Generator had ever offered as many options. However, the project proved a little too big to finish and life got busy so updates ceased in 2009.
In the meantime Doll Divine➚ hired Drachea Rannak➚ for the artwork of a new flash based Sailor Generator, called the Sailor Senshi Maker, which took the number of options to a new level. Inspired by this, plans for a new incarnation of SailorX started to emerge.
SailorXv2 was officially laid to rest when development of SailorXv3 began in summer 2013. Drawing and programming skills have yet improved, so this time SailorXv3 is a standalone program. Items have smooth edges as images are in PNG format, which offers semi transparency.
New features are being added roughly every two weeks and development happens with the help and feedback from current users!
About the author
On the internet I go by Aeryn Martin, which is a stage name I chose when I started persuing a career in acting. I've since then returned to singing and programming and recently started training to be a java developer. I also like to draw, write, watch sci-fi and fantasy TV/movies and discuss how to make the world a better place.
On deviantArt I also go by the name of Diana Hold, which was my first and soon to be retired stage name, as I didn't like it for long. Just to clear that up. ^^
I was introduced to Sailormoon at age 17 through a friend and the intricate character designs and personalities with the connection to astrology captured my interest. That combined with my passion for story telling quickly resulted in me creating new characters - as so many Sailormoon fans out there! From there it was a small step to creating SailorGalleries.com, SailormoonFanart.net (both soon to be reactivated/revamped), the newly launched SailormoonFanart.com and SailorX.
Glad you found me! :)
The background features "Sparkles" and "Rays of Light" were created with brush sets by Obsidian Dawn➚.
